Our Founder
Some people are planners. Some people are creatives. And Joanne Cruz? She is both.
So, it’s only natural that her skill for both planning and being creative, as well as her passion to foster and nurture community, lead her to party planning and designing unique celebrations.
A natural born host, Joanne has a remarkable ability to create personalized, one-of-a-kind events. She loves coming up with imaginative themes for birthdays, baby showers, weddings and special life moments that bring other people’s celebrations to life.
Joanne started her creative career working for luxury brands in New York City for 15+ years. But her love for connection and community inspired her professional transition to full-time entrepreneur as a celebration designer.
In 2016, she founded Creative Twist Events, an event planning boutique. Shortly after expanding to include a Creative Twist Events VENUE in Metuchen NJ to host memorable celebrations. Then came the launch of the Creative Twist Event SHOP which includes custom balloons, party rentals, and personally curated party supplies & gifts.
In 2021, Joanne established a co-op retail space, NEWMARKET Metuchen, to give other creatives and entrepreneurs an opportunity to collaborate as they strive to grow their own businesses.
Over the past 6+ years, Joanne has designed, planned, hosted, and inspired countless memorable events. She believes in joy, being grateful and celebrating everything!
When she is not planning parties, designing celebrations, or launching a new business, Joanne can be found at home with her family experimenting in the kitchen or enjoying her favorite sweet treat – ice cream!
